About Suhaib Ilyasi

Who can forget those powerful images on Indian TV in late nineties – a sober looking soft spoken man taking on with the most dreaded outlaws of the land. A war against crime was waged by this man on television – setting a perfect stage for so many tasteful and tasteless versions of crime-based serials flooding your idiot box. Every investigative journalist on television owes a bit of his / her living to the man who started it all – Suhaib Ilyasi.

Suhaib was advised by well-wishers not to take risks and threatened by hardened and dreaded criminals. It only firmed his resolve to free the society from the menace of crime. A worthy son of great family, Suhaib Ilyasi started his primary education from government middle school, Tilak Marg, New Delhi. Suhaib owes his suave personality and down to earth mannerism to his upbringing in a cultured and nationalist environment.

He did his Economics Honours from Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi. Since early days he was a reformist at heart that made him opt for a career with media. He did Masters in Mass communications from one of the leading institutes of the country.

Suhaib got his first break in media much before he studied mass communications. He started his professional journey with All India Radio while in secondary school. He became presenter and producer of a popular program Yuva Vani.

To everyone’s surprise, he earned his livelihood by compering and producing radio programs while studying in senior secondary school. He proved his worth by anchoring and producing a number of radio programs like Mehfil, Manbhavan, and Sanskritit Sandhy.
After the post-graduation he started his career on a flying note with TV Asia (Now Zee TV) in London in 1991. He joined TV Asia during its early setup in Northolt London. He worked as cameraman and later went on to become program producer for TV Asia (1991-1994).

In London, Suhaib started working on the idea of a crime program on the lines of America’s Most Wanted. His late wife Anju Ilyasi inspired him to bring this unique program to India. Reeta and David Vanneck in the USA helped him conceptualizing this program.

Only after a hard work of 4 years, India’s Most Wanted (IMW) became a reality on Zee TV. IMW took the fight against crime to common man. At least 135 criminals and accused fell in the crosshairs of law.

Suhaib became very famous for his anchoring skills and style of delivery was the not first choice for an anchor. Since the anchor of first eight episodes had left midway, Suhaib turned anchor. Suhaib is a technician by profession. He has hands on experience of every department of television production anchoring, script writing, camera, and direction. He wrote and directed all the episodes of IMW and Fugitive – the Most Wanted.

After directing anchoring and producing more than a dozen television programs and doing some sensational expose. Suhaib once again moved to a new medium with the same missionary zeal to improve the lot of common folks and fight against crime and corruption. In his new avatar Editor-in-Chief Bureaucracy Today, he is reaching out to people to ensure things are improving for his country.

I am great fan !. I really think 498a needs some change. Even supreme court of India had declared it “LEGAL TERRORISM” since it is used by almost all women in divorce case (and others). I hope someone change this law to be equal.

    Dear Suhaib Ilyasi

Are you interested to continue pursuing the mis-deeds of Vinod Rai? I believe that the CAG has betrayed the interests of the Nation by projecting a sensational presumptive loss figure on 2G. He had a personal agenda in this matter. I have some info on how he helped Mr.V.N. Rai to be MD of the KRIBHCO during 2002 in spite of the Fertilizer Ministry recommending the name of Mr. T.R Choudhary, the then Operations Director of KRIBHCO. I was the General Secretary of the FACT Officers’ Association during the period.I was harassed for filing corruption charges against Mr. V. N. Rai the then Chairman and Managing Director of FACT Kochi.I resigned from FACT and took up employment in Oman. They refused to accept my resignation and I had to take the help of the then Fertilizer Minister Mr. S.S. Dhindsa.

I am currently a NRI and willing to spend money and time for a rightful cause of exposing Mr. Vinod Rai.

Please contact me on my mobile 00968-99651449.
